About Us

Team Elmer’s, a family-owned business since 1956, is comprised of four divisions – asphaltexcavationconcrete, and crane and rigging. This Traverse City, Michigan-based and veteran-friendly employer proudly serves with more than 500 skilled professionals operating out of 15 Michigan locations. Satisfied clients include the U.S. Government, the State of Michigan, and virtually every County Road Commission in the area. Places You’ll See Us & Ways We Educate
You will see us at the annual MiCareerQuest event each May and Building Tomorrow event at Northwestern Michigan College Construction Trades Building in October. We also support various High School Career Days, Pinnacle Trucking Career Day Opportunities, Traverse Life Works Boys Camp Onsite Workshop where 12-15 year old camp members learn what work ethic and skills are needed for a career in Heavy Highway Construction, School Tours and Touch a Truck Day.

Training & Hiring
Voluntary and Required Yearly paid training per individual specific needs such as: OSHA, Hazwopper, Confined Space, CPR/First Aid, MSHA 40 hour, MSHA 8 hr refresher, and more. 

We have hired past graduates of many programs, such as:

  • Multiple Career Technological Centers (programs such as Diesel, Automotive, Body Shop repairs, Carpentry, CAD, etc.)
  • Ferris State University Programs (Construction Management, Testing, and Diesel Repair Mechanic)
  • Alpena Community College - Testing Technician
  • Michigan Technological University
  • Farm & Agriculture Backgrounds (hands-on)

While our crews and operators are seen every day, there are multiple unseen positions that support our crews, as well. Positions like accounting, GPS, project drawings (CAD skills), Drone topographic surveying (inventory control), aggregates testing, building maintenance (carpentry), I.T. support, marketing and communications, project management, and welding.
